Neuro
- The mind-body connection. The brain and nervous system through
which our experiences are processed via the five senses: sight,
sound, smell, touch and taste.
Linguistic - The verbal
and non-verbal communication we use to describe, order, categorize
and make sense of our experiences. How we communicate our experiences
to ourselves and others.
Programming - Repeating
sequences of behaviour and thought patterns that can either help
or hinder us. How we have learnt to behave and the ability to discover,
change and utilise the programs we run mentally.
Modelling - The process
of discovering how people do things that work. Duplicating the process
and making it easy to learn using the least number of steps to achieve
the exact same result.
HISTORY OF NLP
In the early 70's, Dr John Grinder, Assistant Professor of Linguistics
at the University Of California, and mathematician Richard Bandler,
modelled the behaviour and thinking patterns of three geniuses.
Their findings, a blend of cognitive and behavioural science, lead
to a practical and powerful set of techniques developed for achieving
excellence in everything we do.
The scientific study of how people do things, how they think, how
they process information and how they behave - NLP has been described
as the technology of the mind, the science of achievement, the study
of success and the psychology of excellence.
In the 30+ years since its creation NLP has continued to change
and expand and is used internationally in both personal and professional
capacities to help people live their lives more successfully.
WHAT DOES NLP DO & HOW CAN IT HELP ME?
NLP offers a simple yet powerful approach to personal and professional
development. Our thoughts, or our perception of a situation, create
our emotional responses which in turn influence our behaviour and
our beliefs about what we can, or cannot, do. If we can change our
how we think, or how we perceive a situation, we can also change
our feelings and behaviour.
NLP helps train your mind to make beneficial changes to your thoughts,
feelings and behaviour, transforming limiting beliefs and aiming
you in a more useful direction. NLP is pro-active, focusing on action
rather than theory, focusing on the outcome, on HOW you do something
rather than WHY you do it.
NLP has been utilised in many areas - Personal development, life
coaching, relationships, counselling, rehabilitation, education,
sport, business, and management and leadership skills.
In therapy NLP allows dramatic changes to take place rapidly. A
wide variety of issues can be treated with NLP or a combination
of hypnotherapy and NLP. These include overcoming fears,
phobias, unwanted
habits, addictions, depression,
panic attacks,
anxiety, OCD
(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and PTSD
(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). NLP can help to build your
confidence, self-esteem, motivation, help you achieve your goals,
and teach you a more effective and flexible way of thinking and
communicating with yourself and others. NLP is a technology that
can help create the life you want right now.
